About Andrea Fischer
August brings us the incredible work of Andrea Fischer, a Denver-based mixed-media artist whose assemblage pieces transform everyday discarded objects into profound artistic statements. Fischer’s work bridges the gap between painting and sculpture, creating three-dimensional narratives that speak to themes of sustainability, memory, and urban life.
Featured Collection: “Urban Archaeology”
This month’s exhibition showcases Fischer’s latest series, “Urban Archaeology,” where she excavates meaning from the detritus of city life. Using found objects collected during walks through Denver’s neighborhoods, Fischer creates layered compositions that tell stories of the people and places that shape our urban landscape.
Highlighted Works
“Colfax Memories” - A large-scale assemblage incorporating vintage neon signs, weathered brick fragments, and layers of acrylic paint that captures the evolving character of Denver’s most famous street.
“Construction Zone Meditation” - Created entirely from materials gathered at construction sites around the city, this piece transforms industrial waste into a contemplative landscape.
“Corner Store Chronicles” - A series of seven smaller works, each representing a different Denver neighborhood corner store, complete with found packaging, hand-painted signage, and personal artifacts.
Artist’s Statement
“Every object has a story. Every discarded thing was once precious to someone. My work is about listening to these silent narratives and giving them new voice through art. In a throwaway culture, I’m interested in what we choose to keep, what we discard, and what meanings emerge when these objects find new life on the gallery wall.”
Community Connections
Fischer’s work resonates deeply with Denver’s commitment to sustainability and community. Several pieces in the exhibition were created in collaboration with local recycling centers and community clean-up initiatives, making this not just an art exhibition but a statement about environmental responsibility.

Educational Component
Throughout August, visitors can participate in an interactive component where they contribute small found objects to a collaborative piece that Fischer will complete during the final week of her residency. This community artwork will remain permanently in the gallery’s collection.
About the Artist
Andrea Fischer received her MFA from the University of Colorado and has been active in Denver’s art scene for over a decade. Her work has been featured in numerous group exhibitions throughout Colorado and was recently acquired by the Denver Art Museum for their contemporary collection.
When not creating art, Fischer teaches community workshops on sustainable art practices and volunteers with local environmental organizations. She lives and works in Denver’s River North Art District.
Visit Information
The exhibition runs throughout August 2025, with regular gallery hours Tuesday through Sunday. Special extended hours on First Friday (August 1st) until 9 PM.
